Restorative Adho Mukha Virasana

Restorative Adho Mukha Virasana
|

Restorative Adho Mukha Virasana is a very relaxing, gentle chest opener.

Some days it can feel too ‘open’ and vulnerable to practice a chest opener on the back.

Some days you might feel that the lower back doesn’t seem to relax when in chest opener on the back (like in Supta Baddha Konasana for example).

In those days you can practice Restorative Adho Mukha Virasana with a bolster (or two) under the chest and abdomen.

This asana will calm you down and still keep your heart open.

When practicing make sure that your siting bones are on your heels, that the abdomen is touching the bolster, that your chest is open and sinking in towards the support and finally that your shoulders and arms are relaxed.

For a balanced practice don’t forget to place the other cheek on the bolster after some time.

Enjoy and relax…
