Nostrils and Breath

Nostrils and Breath

|

Did you ever wonder why do we turn to our right hand side after Savasana?
🌳
There is a physiological meaning behind it.
🌳
Medical science realized that both nostrils are very much connected with the nervous system. Every 90 minutes, the pathway of the breath is shifting from the left to the right nostril, in order to regulate the nervous system.
🌳
By lying down on the right side, the left nostril opens, while the right one closes and naturally switches the nervous system into parasympathetic.
🌳
As yoga teachers we want support the nervous system of our students by switching it into parasympathetic - the ‘rest and digest’ mode.
🌳
In this mode HEALING can happen…
