Well, it’s all about moving the upper trapezius down.
The upper trapezius is this part between the neck and shoulders that tends to be very tight. 
One way of creating awareness to this action is by using 2 straps.
One behind the back going around the shoulders and down. The other strap looped in the first - going under the heels.
Then tie and tighten the second strap until you feel freedom in the neck. Finally let go of the hands and stand in Tadasana. 
Take this new understanding into the practice of other asanas.
