Compassion Mediation

Throughout our month long Alignment Yoga teacher training we practice every morning Mindfulness Meditation and in the evenings we practice different kinds of meditations. One of those meditations is Compassion Mediation inspired from the Buddhist tradition.

What is Compassion?

Genuine compassion is a state of mind that is non-violent, non-harming and non-aggressive. This attitude is based on the wish for others to be free of their suffering. The value and benefit of compassion is obvious: if we understand, accept and even support that every human-being has the wish to be happy, just like myself, then it is the foundation of peace and therefore for happiness.

Compassion Mediation have many benefits when practiced regularly it can reduces inflammatory Response in our body: “A Regular compassion meditation practice reduces negatives neuroendocrine, inflammatory and behavioral responses to psycho-social stress“. Explains Chuck Raison from Emory University.

During the practice we will first practice compassion towards ourselves, second compassion toward others and third gentle mindfulness on compassion.

Concluding with a quote  from the Sutra on Compassion by Buddha: “May all being[s] be release from all suffering, and may they not be parted from the good fortune they have attained”.
